Playing With The Food

I encourage my kids to play with their food. "Play food", that is. We have tea parties, pizza parties, picnics, birthday parties, even tailgate parties. The kids feed the dolls, the stuffed animals, each other, and me. We have a fruit stand in the basement; they buy fruit, sell fruit, and put money in the cash register. Ty loves "working" in the fruit stand...he greets every customer with a grin and a "Hi!". The toy food and dishes are definitely our favorite toys; they get played with all day long. Real food? We like that, too. Today's favorites...green beans and cottage cheese.
Speaking of real food...Diane, thanks for your post today. Alas, so many good choices...so little time!!!

  1. Your post on food brings back memories of all the wonderful meals we had at Aunt Myrtie and Aunt Rita's homes. I'm so sad that none of Dad's family is any longer with us. I'm mad at myself that I just didn't take off and go to see Aunt Myrtie after I was well again. I'm going to her funeral by myself, so say a prayer for me that I will have a safe trip. TTYL

  2. Hi Bev...I have lots of fond memories of Sunday visits with aunts, uncles, and cousins. I remember being in awe of Aunt Myrtie's cake baking and decorating skills. Two of my all time favorite cakes are "Aunt Myrtie cakes"...a doll cake that she made one year for my birthday (the pink cake was the doll's dress) and, of course, our wedding cake. I'm sorry that you have to make the trip by yourself. Drive carefully!
