Ok, I'll admit it. I sometimes lick my finger when I'm trying to turn the page of a book. I've done it as long as I can remember and haven't really given it much thought. So, today, I thought it incredibly cute when I saw Tyler do this very thing as he was turning a page in a monkey book. However, when I googled this habit, I discovered that most people don't find this habit cute at all. In fact, most find it utterly disgusting! So, my sincere apologies to anyone who's read a book after me. (Sorry Diane...you probably won't want to lend me books after reading this.) Some of the comments re this habit were shocking. One person had the nerve to suggest that it's mostly old people who do this. Tyler and I beg to differ!!!
Other monkey business: Today we made a craft to accompany the "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" poem. After attaching our monkeys to their beds, K, who already knew it by heart, immediately began reciting the poem. She added her own little twist at the end. She tucked her little monkey back into his paper bed, looked up, and said, "I hope he learned his lesson".
Diane, thanks for the pumpkin bread, chili, and "snow" bells. You are so thoughtful!!! : )
I do it too....I think most people don't even realize they do it! So disqusting or not...sometimes it's the only way to turn the page! LOVE Kelsey's add on and the fact it was MONKEY day....(no wonder he was wondering where I was at :)
ReplyDeleteJenn...Thanks for stepping up to the plate and admitting that you do it too! I know that I don't notice if other people lick pages...I'm going to have to learn to be more observant. Was so cute to hear Ty ask about your whereabouts yesterday! : )
