If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2011 is the "Year of the Hare". In my world, it's the "Year of the Malfunctioning Appliances". Since the beginning of this school year, it has been:
the dryer (Sears repaired it for $$$)
the refrigerator (still paying for a new one)
the clothes washer (still paying for a new one)
the dishwasher (I'm still using it, even though it leaks all over. I've discovered that bath towels are great for mopping up indoor rivers and lakes.)
Is that a long enough list? Evidently not, because this morning, the dryer quit... again!!!! : (
I called Sears right away, expecting to be told that it would be next week before a repairman could come. Surprise...surprise...someone came within two hours! What convinced the Sears rep. that this was urgent? Was it that I mentioned that I have an in-home child care business and rely heavily on my dryer? Was it the fact that I was holding a fussy baby the whole time I was on the phone? Or, was it the two-year-old, tugging on my leg, repeatedly repeating, "I have to go potty"? Whatever it was, it worked. And, luckily, I had the good sense to buy the over-the-phone warranty that she offered (or it would have cost twice as much).
And so, to finish continue the list:

the dryer (Sears replaced the motor for $$$)

I'd like to think that that's it for this year but, there are ten weeks left!!!!!!

  1. Well, American Idolers, I think it will be 2 out of these 3 voted off tomorrow night--Naima, Thia, Stefano. What do you watchers think? Thanks for the newsy email, Dave! What kind of house are the Alarcons moving into? We are finding, after only 3 years in this house, they just don't build or make things the way they used to!!! So sorry you had more repair to take care of, Farm Girl.

  2. Farm Girl, I need to report an item mistakenly taken from your house today before you call the authorities! I discovered the item when it fell out of my t-shirt onto the restroom floor at Hobby Lobby. It is 3" in length, dark colored, plastic, tableware, used for cutting. I know it was K who planted it on me while she was putting the ice cream pail on my head and tucking the handle under my chin. I will be sure to disinfect the knife thoroughly before returning it to you. What fun and now you are taking on another baby!! The musical chairs game is so much more fun your way. Thanks again for letting me be a part of your day.
