It's Hard to Believe...

1) how much snow we have (it is piled up everywhere)!
2) how messy the streets are (the snowplow hasn't been down my street yet)!
3) how cold it is (forecast for tonight is -15 degrees with a windchill of -30)!
4) how cold it feels in my house (even sitting on the couch covered with three blankets and the thermostat set at 70
5) how, even though I'm FREEZING, I've got a craving for a Blizzard (of the DQ varity)!

  1. Hi Farm Girl and everyone else! I know what you mean about "ALL of the snow" The Jamestown Sun gave the amt. of snow we have had this winter: Nov. 10.5 inches; Dec. 25 inches; Jan.31 inches for a grand total of 66.5 inches and I do believe there is that much piled up in our yard!! I've had to wait 2-3 days for the plow to come down our street so I could get out and about. Clay drives his 4 wheel drive and brings me whatever I desire, but it's just not the same as getting out and driving yourself wherever you want to go.
Yes, that would be great if as many as can make it work would stay at the Barn with us.. We will come on Sat. That is, Clay & I, Wendy and her family, Trev and Taylor and Kelley and family. Don't know yet about Penny, Lucas and Madison. We could have brunch on Sunday and spend the day relaxing, visiting and playing games. How about it, everyone? Then on Monday we could do whatever the hosts have planned and we would move to wherever you will have us. Haven't talked to the Barn proprietors yet, but will call tomorrow to see what they say.
I just got back from WalMart where I had lost my cash card. Thankfully, there are some honest people in this world. The snow was blowing and drifting so bad that I could hardly see where I was driving. Was very glad to get home AND to have my cash card in my purse. Good night all.

  2. Diane: Bev’s mentioning pecan cluster blizzards reminded me: Nature Valley granola nut clusters, roasted almond, were on special at Rite-aid. Did I buy some? You bet.

Should’ve added yesterday: Mr. Chicoine was a banker! So chances are he did all the bill paying.

Do you-all know about sock warmers? Take a big old sock & fill it with uncooked rice, leaving enough room at the top to tie a knot. Put it in the microwave for a minute or 2 & enjoy the warmth. We put 2 of ’em in Robert’s bed each night, near his feet, & he says they help him get to sleep quickly. We did discover tiny holes in one sock so we poured the rice into the leg of an old nylon stocking, then put that inside the defective sock.

Sheryl, do you get the booklet called UNI Today? If so, look at p. 6. Mrs. Lynch is Anthon’s own Delores Petersen, about 5 years older than Yrs Tr.

Farm Girl, how is it you can do italics on this blog? I can’t. = (

  3. The sun is shining brightly and the streets are slushy even tho it is only 16 degrees. My goal is to move all boxes out of what we call the store room downstairs by Monday. We want to put in permanent shelving so there is room for an air mattress on the floor in June. Lu, you have not mentioned shingles for awhile, what is your condition? Butrfly Lady, let me know if you need any help with phone calls to The Barn. We will be home base and here the rest of the time, but that overnite sounds like fun! Farm Girl, will you have Ty anytime this week-end? Jenn is antsy to get out and I have a small project found at Walmart that I want to give you for the 2's.

  4. Hi Bev! As bad as our weather has been, I don't want to trade with you...ND has definitely had it worse than Iowa. Glad that you found your cash card...when I lose stuff like that, I usually don't find it! Stay warm! : )
