Weather Permitting

During our class tonight, we talked about taking child care kids outdoors. Best practice is to take the kids outside every day for up to an hour unless the wind chill is 9 degrees or below or the heat index is 90 degrees or higher. So, despite the snow, thundersnow, sleet, and rain we had today, I should have taken the kids outside. With an eight-week-old baby in tow? I don't think so!!!

  1. Oh, Sheryl, I think you had better add to your list of things to do is how many days until summer!! Ain't it fun to be crazy??

  2. We too were shocked by Derek’s news. But along with everyone we’re v. thankful he & Amanda weren’t hurt. Things are just THINGS. But people are irreplaceable treasures.

Sheryl, that baby you’re getting is mighty fortunate—that he’s getting YOU! And his parents are fortunate that you’re willing to make room for one more. (Did you say “Let me think about it”? Or did you just give an immediate OK?)

Your story about the brownish paint reminded me of days gone by when certain Fresno kids couldn’t resist blending their Easter-egg dyes. Result: a few eggs in a shade of dark walnut. Or mud, more like! —Are your little charges gonna dye eggs? One child per day, as with the cookies?

Diane, we got your card from “Philly” today, Tuesday. Thanks! Glad you two had an enjoyable, worthwhile trip. No major delays this time, I guess? Maryann, along with some other 8th graders, will be following you to DC and Philadelphia in June. —Jenn is rising steadily higher in the ranks of OTs. Nice goin’, Ms Wheelchair Hawkeye State!

  3. Well, I'm packing, AGAIN! We were up at 7:30 this morning ( I know that's not early in the rest of your books) Jenn had a wound clinic appt in Wloo. She is to have as much bed rest as possible before going back in a week, otherwise, if the site does not look better, they will put her on complete bed rest. She took a 9:30 appt in Nashua tomorrow morning and we leave for Des Moines after work as she has an 8:00 appt for fitting her new wheel chair (Granny Apple Green). Up at 7 and 5:30 the next 2 mornings!!
Thanks Farm Girl for all your work on the survey, it was good to see all of you this morning, even Baby Owen. Another family is lucky to have you watching over their child.
Hope all is well with everyone. Is Sofia sleeping through the night? (:

  5. Hi Lucille! When I was initially asked about taking Baby O, my response was "No". (This was said to D and B's mom, a coworker of O's dad.) Later that evening, after agonizing about being so abrupt, I called her, apologized, and said "OK". And, so far, it has been OK. I didn't dye Easter eggs with the kids...adding a baby to the mix has put a slight crunch on time to do projects. We did paint paper eggs and decorated baskets for them.
