Read Any Good Books Lately?

I have been sick off and on for the past two months (seems like years) and, believe me, watching TV has gotten really old. I am now more aware of how often shows are rerun, how many times the same stories are told over and over again, and how much time is consumed by commercials. Today, sick again, I realized that I'm sick of TV watching, too. So...I picked up a book. Thanks to Diane, who is very generous about sharing her books, I had several options and decided to read one by Nicholas Sparks. The problem is...I can't put it down. (That always happens when I start reading.) If I don't get anything accomplished tonight, it's Diane's fault...JK.

  1. How are you today, Farm Girl? Do you have kiddies or are you taking another day to get really better? Gray skies and flurries make me want to curl up with a book. Two, old/new to me, authors that I am enjoying are Charles Martin (similar to Nicholas Sparks) and William Kent Krueger (mystery series takes place in far northern Minnesota--1st book, Iron Lake, written in late 1990's). I get most of my reading from the Waverly Public Library.

  2. I have to shut the TV off and start reading again. Problem is I'm addicted to Y & R and B & B, but then the afternoon is good time for reading if I can stay awake. Had Maddie overnight last night. She is so funny. Didn't like the sippy cup that I had, so had to call Daddy to bring a replacement. He just left them on the porch and when I opened the door to get them, Maddie said:"What the heck!" She was happy with Daddy's choice. We spent the evening watching Dora, Yo Gabba Gabba, and Wonder Pets. She didn't want to go to bed, but konked out at 10 and up at 7:30. Took her to the sitter and came home and took a nap. She wears me out. Don't know how you handle 4 kids of that age, Farm Girl. Clay and I are both battling colds. His is worse than mine. He finally called the clinic and got some meds. I think a visit to TRAX is on the schedule tonight. By the way, the time on my comments is off 2 hours. Don't know how to correct that.

  4. Hi Diane! As you already know, I did have kids today....four....one was at home sick. The "toll" for this bout was four kids and one adult (that would be me). I can not take any more time off this year, so I'd better not get sick again...wish me luck with that! I finished the Sparks' book in less than 24 hours and am now reading one by Diane Chamberlain.

  5. Hi Bev! I love Madison's reaction to the appearance of her sippy cup! Those same exact three words pop into my head several times each day. My time is off by two hours also...we must be posting in Pacific time. Hope you feel better really soon!
