"The Party"...At Last

Tyler's birthday party took place this afternoon...finally! It had been rescheduled twice...first because he was sick and then because Aaron had a work conflict. It turned out to be a nice day (if you can call a winter day in Iowa "nice"), and no one in the group was *sick. Ty soaked up all the attention that his twenty-six guests had to offer and, despite being in the throes of "The Terrible Twos", he was a happy camper all afternoon. We have LOTS of cupcakes, ice cream, and Chex Mix left over if anyone wants to stop in tomorrow.
*Note: If the kids and I stay healthy until Monday, it'll be the first week of no illness in our group since Thanksgiving! Yea!!

  1. What a party, Ty's parents and Farm Girl know how to celebrate. Huge animal balloons, 2 balloons, and black/white spotted balloons, all over the ceiling. It was so fun to see the faces of the other 2's as they arrived with their parents, couldn't quite figure out what was going on with all the grown-ups, etc. There's nothing like watching 3 two year olds eating chocolate cupcakes, what a hoot! Ty didn't know how to start until his other grandma swiped the frosting with her finger and tasted it, then he started in. You can see the results. Ty's parents and his MyMy are doing a fine job of raising that little guy! He sings (improvises), counts, know colors, loves books, knows his manners, says "No, Jenn" when he wants her to stop playing a silly game with him-instead of whining or crying, and has the best belly laugh you could want to hear from a little boy! Can you tell that we love that little one? We are so thankful to live as close as we do and that we are invited to share in the lives of Farm Girl and her family!!!

  2. Hi Diane! It's a little hard to follow a praise-filled comment like yours but, just so everyone knows, Ty does sometimes whine and cry (he is two after all!). Aaron has a huge family who all live close and who faithfully turn out for family celebrations, so I am glad that the D Wolff family lives close enough to represent and share in our celebrations, too.
