One of Lucille's comments sent me back in my blog to reread what I'd posted on October 25:
Multiple Choice
Over the next few months, I hope to become:
1) a pack rat
2) a rat fink
3) a gym rat
4) a muskrat
5) a chef like Ratatouille
The answer was/is:
3) a gym rat
I rejoined a gym at that time but haven't been very faithful about working out. I did manage to get there both yesterday and today...hey, maybe I'm on a roll!
Correction: It’s Marvin Black, not Norman, who looks so much like Uncle Fred.
ReplyDeleteAbout the robbery: Sheryl, we’re all glad you weren’t in the shop at that heart-stopping moment. My sweet mother-in-law Ruby Van O. used to point out that there was less crime in days of old because people didn’t have such an easy time getting away. Maybe the reason you didn’t see that couple walking was that they had a car (a stolen car?) waiting.
As for the threat to kill: So many people, having done little all their lives except watch TV, have seen that type of get-in-your-face stuff countless times. It gets into people’s psyches. They’re convinced that that’s the way to deal with situations: bullying, browbeating, intimidating. —I was born 50 years too late, at least!
On p. 118 of the travel guide you can read about Segway tours at Davenport! We saw such a tour in progress in Chicago. One of Maryann’s teachers was on one in San Francisco. She said the only drawback was that they got their picture/s taken a zillion times.
We went to Maryann’s honors assembly Thursday evening. She got some nice mementos, including a bumper sticker. “My child is an honor student at Computech.” All these years, though she’s always earned fine grades, her prizes were mostly certificates & little trophies. The b. sticker is a first. Peter’s honors assembly was Friday a.m. Mr. Neville came over to us to say how proud he was that Peter had the highest average on all that quarter’s Friday math quizzes. Pete got his name read off for honor roll, perfect attendance, and reading.
Sumpin I’ve been meaning to ask: all about Eddie. How & when did you get him? Is he declawed? Well behaved around the chilluns?
52 boxes total? Empty one each week, and you’ll be done in a year. = )
Thanks Lu, for walking us through parts of the travel guide! Congrats to Maryann and Peter for their spectacular achievements in school! They are so lucky to have grandparents who take an interest in them and who are the perfect guides for them in their schooling. Farm Girl, you know what I say about being out alone at night, but at a Subway? and in your area of Waterloo? It is cold and snowing with wind and more snow forecast for tomorrow. It's hard to believe it's Feb already. Have a good week all!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lucille! Wow...Maryann and Peter are both doing so well...all of you can be very proud of those two. "It takes a village"...one of the many reasons I decided to stay home with Ty. Those bumper stickers have been on bumpers here for years. (Did you put yours on?) About the Subway incident...nothing I haven't heard before. Even at school, kids as young as five are making those kinds of threats. This summer, ask me to tell you the story about how a principal diverted this type of threat away from me.
ReplyDeleteI've had Eddie since he was a kitten (2002). Aaron, Jaime, Derek, and I picked Eddie (and his brother, Wally) out of a litter of kittens for sale at a vet's office. He was declawed when he was young..I don't remember exactly when (whenever the vet's office said the time was right). He's very mellow and is a little afraid of the kids, so he stays hidden most of the day. He has gotten braver lately (lonely, maybe), so he does come out more often. The kids have all learned to be gentle with him (all have cats and dogs either at home or at Grandma's and Grandpa's). Segway tours? I've seen them and would love to take one! Have a great day! : )
Hi Diane! Next time I want to go to Subway at night, I'll drive to Waverly...ha ha!!! Have a nice week!
