I have wings!

Hi everybody! My name is Tyler Nugent. I told my MyMy that I would post for her for a few days so she can have a break. Guess what? I'm in North Carolina at my Uncle Guck's house! I went on my first airplane ride today (actually, two planes). I sat in my car seat in the plane and even took a short nap. I'm having fun at Uncle Guck's. He has lots of fun stuff to play with!

  1. Well, Adam, we would love to hear from you anytime, I know you would have interesting things to tell us. Hi, Tyler, so glad to hear that you are safe and sound in NC at Uncle Gucks! Be sure to tell him hello and check out that girl friend of his! I am happy that you all got over the flu bugs so you could go on your vacation. Remind MyMy that the Dr told her to get a flu shot when she was feeling better. We had a very quiet Christmas Day, busy packing for our trip to ND tomorrow. Have lots of fun, take pictures to share and see you in 2011.

  3. My guess was Tyler, just as Bil Keane often lets his little son do the “Family Circus” cartoons. Good job, jr. blogger!

Glad the Wat-Den folks made it safely to NC. A big shout-out to DSW. BTW, Robert often mentions that Peter reminds him of Derek. D, D, J have a safe trip to the Far North.

1958 or so. At home for Christmas I found a Whittier verse, written out by Bev, propped up on the dresser in the bedrm I shared w/ her. “For somehow, not only at Christmas, / But all the year through / The joy that you give to others / Is the joy that comes back to you.” That became my all-time favorite C’mas quote. Many Decembers I posted a copy of it in my classroom. Now I recite it to the grandkids. Some years ago Edith Kraft sent a C’mas card w/ those same words.

There’s plenty I miss about my job. Both English & social studies had many pleasures. If not for the arrival of a sweet little redhead, I might’ve kept my educator hat on a few more years.

Diane asked how I remember all that stuff: it’s long-term memory, you know, though there are many things you girls mention that I don’t recall, such as the back stairs at the Jerman farm. It’s the short-term stuff that bothers. Where are the keys I laid down 5 minutes ago?

We had a yummy dinner at Shari’s yesterday. Today Robt & I go back, because for the first time in 3 1/2 years, Jack will be at his mom’s. He seems to have his head on straight now and to have a bright future. But it’ll be an emotional afternoon.

Startling sight yesterday: big sign at Walgreen’s: SHINGLES INOCULATIONS Available Here. All fall they advertised flu shots. I wonder, is there a shingles epidemic now? And will I I ever stop talking about it. — On the Peace Corps web site I challenged my cohorts with the same 2 lines of verse. “Shingles shots, shingles shots …” Several people made attempts but none of their endings could hold a candle to Sheryl’s.
