I Deserve A Break Today!

It was SO nice to have ZERO kids today...especially since I'm starting to feel human again!

  1. We are all glad that you are on the mend, Farm Girl! Be sure to get lots of rest before your trip. Do you have K or T, today? It was wonderful to talk to Farm Girl, Butrfly Lady, Karel, Dave, Robert, yesterday!! Lu, so sorry that you continue to be plagued by shingles symptoms. Happy Holidays, one and all!!!!!

  2. By The Way...

Everything in that Photoshop project was found on the Internet. Even the clock picture.

I'm sorry for the mistakes in my last comment.

All of FUSD (Fresno Unified School District) has three weeks off for winter break. We had two weeks off for Thanksgiving break.

  3. Sheryl, I realized as soon as I last “commented” that you were gently letting us know you were sick. Which you don’t deserve! The long snooze you mentioned should’ve helped. I hope!

Me, still shlingering (lingering shingles). Thurs nite especially bad. Lengthy late-nite phone discussion w/ advice nurse. Left note for Robt, walked to our 24-hr Walgreens, 1:30 a.m. to get nurse’s recommendations, Benadryl & Calomine lotion. They do seem to help. To dr. again Fri. PG-13 = Poor Grandma, 13 weeks of this? In spite of all, we’re hoping to go to Disneyland during this C’mas break. You should hear Nancy D’s account of her bout with shingles, when she was only 6. Awful.

Received Sat., our copies of the family’s important dates. Thanks, girls! Fine job! The 2 lists, chronological & by families, are both so useful. Take a bow, Diane, Jenn, & Sheryl.

Oops! Was that Eunice Clause, not Shever, next door to Mom & Dad?

More essential food groups: anything baked. Those were Diane’s words once when I was telling her how I crave bread. Also, anything crunchy.

C’mas almost here! I’ll run out of days before I run out of memories. Dec. 1954 or 5 Our band played “A Christmas Festival” by LeRoy Anderson. Remember, Bev? It’s a medley of classic tunes combined ingeniously. I loved it so much & still think there’s never been a finer example of holiday music.
The Grants went to Sioux City, probably Christmas shopping. About time to go home, but Dad, knowing how I loved “ACF,” walked with me to Martins’ Dept. Store. His idea. I doubted that a recording existed. Even if it did, I really doubted it’d be available in Sooland. But, eureka, in Martins’ record department we found it! I can still picture that disc, larger than a 45 rpm, smaller than an LP, with a goldish-colored label. I probably wore it out playing it. A typical gesture by bighearted Dad.

How did you-all find out the truth about Santa? I remember the exact spot I was standing, in the dining room at the Jerman farm, when I noticed that a tag “to Lucille from Santa” was in Dad’s handwriting. Oh. My. Gosh.

Maryann’s right about our THREE-wk winter break. We make up for it with early start in Aug & late end in June. She’s mistaken about T-giving, though. We get just one week.

  5. Hi Maryann! I'm so impressed that you know how to arrange and rearrange things on the internet. (I'm still learning.) Mistakes? What mistakes? I make them all the time, too.. Three weeks of winter break...lucky you...have fun! : )

  6. Hi Lucille! Sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well. A 24-hour Walgreens...one of the best inventions! I have one within walking distance of my house, too. Was just there last night around 11:30 PM (but didn't walk there). See Diane...I'm not the only Grant sister who is "out and about" late at night. Now you have TWO of us to worry about! No, I haven't heard Nancy's story about having shingles when she was six, but I'd like to. Nancy, are you reading this? Please tell the story!
Re. the lists...you are welcome. I really played such a minor part. Think of it like bowling. I picked up the ball and dropped it. Jenn and Diane were the bumpers who kept the ball rolling and in line. I find it interesting that the "chronological" list starts off with Mom and Dad's anniversary, and that's where it all really did start. So...from here on out...just to keep everything in order...no one in the family can get married or have a baby between January 1 and January 10..okay? JK! : ) Baked, carbs, chocolate...the list goes on and on.... Have a great day! TTYL
PS...Santa? What truth about Santa? When the kids were little, we told them that when they stopped believing, Santa quit coming. A chorus of "We believe...we believe" immediately rang out in the Weller house!!! True story!
